A quick summary of what has been going on since Easter:

    • Pumpernickel had one baby, also white.

    • The roof was put on the sunroom. Much of the face boards have been installed on the room to make it look a little nicer.

    • Cabol's dad and I fixed an old door.

    • Cabol's dad was attacked by a ram. He reciprocated by throwing it through the air in a demonstration of top secret military sheep fu.

    • Andy learned it is hard to rip a 12' board by yourself.

    • Andy learned to refer to himself in the third person.

    • Anya has lost both her working cups-with-straws. One at daycare. The other...?

    • We bought lots of bright colored paint for Anya's room. And a fan. A groove may have to be cut in the wall so the fan can spin.

I'd love to hear the whole ram-attack story! And the awesome ram-catapulting! That's tons better than a stupid attacking rooster!

The RAM tale got a lot of laughs from the staff at urgent care one week after the event. Also, laughs from the doctor two weeks after the event when pain killers and muscle relaxants were not helping the achy back of RamBaa the sheep hurler. The X-ray technician had a laugh. Next week the physical therapists will also have a laugh.

RamBaa, alias Chris, alias Cabol's Dad just read this comment and promised to tell the tale just to make sure all of the details are included and correct.

My eyewitness account of the incident began when I heard an unusual gasp or groan and went outside to investigate. After rounding the corner of the house I saw two figures lying down the hill in the grass. Chris and Sidney (the ram) were both lying down on their sides, face to face, nostrils flaring, mad as.....you get the picture.

This a story that needs to be passed on to our grandchild.

I wish I could tell you more, but alas, I was at work at the time.

:-) Well, at least making the doctor laugh will guarantee a refill on those meds!

I was asked to tell the story, so here goes:

I was getting ready to go pick up some wood for trimming the new room and when I went out to leave, Sidney and Lil-Sid had sprung themselves once again and were snacking on various forms of vegetation, some of which was in the form of branches cut from trees around the property and stacked down from the parking area next to the road. Sid had pulled some of the branches out into the road and I was attempting to move the leftovers back into the pile and out of the road. Sid had worked so hard moving it out there; I guess he wasn't very interested in having me undo what he had been up to all morning. So, he approached me in an aggressive way and as I started to back away, he decided that he would teach me a lesson to not mess with his mess. He charged me from very close and I was able to dodge his advances several times until I was about 10 feet down the hill and up on the grass. He was about six feet away when he charged me and was moving very fast. All I was able to do is try to grab his horns, but I failed to get a firm hold on him and over backwards I went. I fell flat on my back in the soft grass, fortunately. It was then that I found myself looking up at Sid and he was staring down at me. In the 5 to 10 seconds it took me to decide how I was going to get up I decided that it would be a good idea to move in on him slowly and grab his horns. As I got up, he backed up a few feet and came at me again. This time I was able to grab his horns, but he kept on coming, but this time I had a firm hold and as I fell backwards, I put my feet up under him and caught his back legs... and over he went. It even amazed me that he flew completely over me and landed just above my head. I still had a firm grasp of his horns and he was trying to get up. So, I decided to flip him over on his other side and pin his horns to the ground so that he couldn't get a foothold. Sid wasn't very happy and he was breathing as hard as I was. When we went down that time, I guess that the both Sid and I made a loud grunt as the wind was knocked out of us both. Cheryl heard the sound and looked outside to see the truck still out parked and wondered where I had gone. When she saw us both down to the ground, Cheryl asked if I was OK. I said I was and asked her to get the Sheppard’s Cain and to come help me keep Sid occupied while I got up. She gave me the Sheppard’s Cain and I backed up slowly. Sid was following me. I don't think he thought he was finished. Cheryl and I went back into the house and Sidney came around to the back door of the house looking for me. I went out onto the front deck and lured him back to the front of the house and then made my dash to get into the truck so that I could complete my errand of picking up the wood. Sidney chased the truck half way down the hill, but finally stopped when he saw me pulling away. Finally, I was free of him. When I returned, he had forgotten all about the matter, but I stayed in the house anyway.

    That's all there is...
